Itinerary: 6 Nights Mobile Camping Safari Special

Day 1: Journey into the Okavango Delta.

You start your safari by being met anywhere in central Maun by your guide at 3pm. After some introductions, you then start the two hour drive to the edge of the Okavango Delta, to find your tents already prepared for your arrival and the sun slowly starting to set over the hippo lagoon that sits directly in front of camp. As the sun turns to its warm reds and purples, you then enjoy a prepared dinner and sit by the fire as the stars emerge above you.

Day 2: Mokoro Excursion and Wildlife Walking Safaris.

You have an early wake up call for a full breakfast served. After your breakfast, your guide takes you on a short game drive through the nearby concession and to the mokoro station. As you drive keep an eye out for any wildlife starting their early day as well. Hippos waking up and strolling down to the water, buffalo grumpily huffing about and giraffe stretching for a morning snack. On arrival at the mokoro station, you and your guide will set out with a local poler into the Okavango channels, gliding with your mokoro through the reeds.

After a couple of hours of mokoro, you stop and explore some of the dryer islands on foot for another couple of hours. Your guide will then stop for a picnic lunch under a shady location before beginning the journey back on your mokoro at 2pm. From there it is another half hour game drive back to your riverside camp, where you will find warm water prepared for a shower and dinner preparations starting once again.

Day 3: Journey into the Moremi Game Reserve.

A 05:00 wake-up call precedes an early breakfast, with departure at 06:00 for Moremi Game Reserve. Arrival at South Gate is around 08:00, leading into a leisurely game drive past Black Pools and through the wildlife-rich western floodplains of Moremi. A picnic lunch in the Third Bridge area provides a midday pause before continuing north to the campsite in the Xakanaxa area. Arrival is typically around 17:30, with the tented camp already erected and dinner preparations underway. Hot water heated over the fire fills bucket showers for use at leisure.

Day 4: Game Drives in the Moremi Game Reserve

After an early breakfast you head out for a morning game drive, returning to base camp for lunch and some relax time. Then depart for an afternoon game drive, returning around sunset.

Your full day of game drives will then end with a slow drive through to the Khwai Concession, where you will find the new campsite already set up and ready for your arrival.

Day 6: Game Drives and a Night Drive

With your full day in Khwai, you depart on both a morning and afternoon game drive, returning to camp for lunch and some relaxation. Your afternoon game drive leaves a little later and includes a sunset drive and some time searching the concession in the night, before returning to camp for dinner under the stars.

Day 7: Return to Maun

On your last day we wake up early, have tea/coffee and cereal and go out on your last game drive at dawn, arriving back at 9:00am to find camp taken down and a brunch prepared. You then depart from our campsite for a return to Maun, arriving between 4 and 5pm.
