Itinerary: 2 Nights Okavango Delta Camping

Day 1: Journey into the Moremi Game Reserve

Your adventure begins in Maun, where your guide collects you from your accommodation between 8:30 and 9:00 for a seamless start. By 9:15, you set off toward Moremi, and the safari truly begins at the Buffalo Fence, where wildlife often congregates along the corridor leading into the reserve. Arriving at South Gate before midday, you ease into the rhythm of the bush with a slow, deliberate game drive across Moremi’s wildlife-rich western floodplains. A picnic lunch at the Black Pools area provides a tranquil break before continuing to your camp in the Xiini area. As the afternoon light softens, you’ll find your spacious Meru tents already set up, dinner preparations in motion, and hot water heating over the fire for your private bucket shower. Each tent features an attached rear enclosure with a bush toilet and shower, bringing comfort and authenticity together in true mobile camping style.

Day 2: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives with Sundowner Magic

Your second day in Moremi embraces the essence of a Botswana mobile safari: unhurried, observant, and deeply attuned to the natural rhythms of the land. Rather than a single, long push, we split the day into a morning game drive and an afternoon expedition that flows into sundowners at sunset. Midday is reserved for camp, lunch, and rest, allowing you to savor the quiet of the bush and recharge for the golden hour, when wildlife stirs and light turns honeyed across the floodplains. This cadence maximizes sightings while minimizing fatigue, ensuring you get both breadth and depth from your time in Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 3: Dawn in Moremi and the Scenic Journey to Khwai River

On day three, an early wake-up leads into a dawn game drive, when predators are active and the plains game moves through dew-laced grasses. Returning to camp, a full cooked brunch awaits before we depart at 11:00 for the Khwai River, game viewing all the way through varied habitats that bridge the ecosystems of Moremi and the Khwai community area. You’ll reach your Khwai campsite shortly before sunset to find your Meru tented camp set and our team attending to every detail, preserving the seamless comfort that defines a well-run mobile camping safari in Botswana.

Day 4: Khwai by Day and Night

Your fourth day showcases Khwai at its most compelling, both by day and after dark. With tea or coffee in hand, you head out at first light with a packed, light breakfast to catch the crisp morning activity: elephants along the riverine edges, antelope stepping through woodlands, and the thrill of encounters behind every corner. Late morning brings a return to camp for a generous cooked brunch and several hours of relaxed downtime, a chance to read, reflect, and simply be in the bush. By around 4:00, tea and snacks set the tone for an afternoon game drive that crescendos into sunset. As night falls, you then extend the drive to reveal Khwai’s nocturnal life—creatures that animate the darkness and reward those who venture beyond daylight. You return to camp around 8:30 for dinner beneath a canopy of stars.

Day 5: Final Dawn Drive and Seamless Departure

On the final morning, you rise early for one last dawn drive, a fitting farewell that often delivers some of the trip’s most memorable sightings. Returning to camp by 9:00, brunch is served. Around 10:30, guests are taken to the Khwai airstrip for onward flights, with timing adjusted to suit schedules. Those continuing overland return to Maun, arriving between 4:00 and 5:00 pm, carrying with them the stillness of the delta, the pulse of the floodplains, and the distinctive spirit of a Botswana mobile safari shaped by Moremi and Khwai’s unparalleled biodiversity.
